Our horses have a story.  All of our forty horses have a unique tale of their origin. Part of it based in history and part based on the sponsors stories. During the designing, building, blocking and creation process of the horse is when these types of decisions are made. The carver style is chosen. The horse that serves as a starting point for the design is chosen for the blueprint. The details of the trappings are decided upon with some input from the sponsors. the different elements of the carved items, objects or design are then added to the horses blueprint and incorporated into the overall design of the horse. In the end the finished horse is collaboration of old, new and becomes a new creation unique to itself that sets it apart from other horses. Our carousel features many horses based on several different master carvers from the era that defined carousel horse creation in the United States.

Our finished horses  After the designing, the building, blocking, carving, sanding, priming, sanding,  painting, and then clear coating the horse is ready to be placed on the carousel. Until that time each horse has pole and stand to be displayed upon in the workshop. Visitors to the workshop can look up close and see the detailed carvings and the beautiful painting that has been done on our finished horses. It is truly amazing how many hours go into the carving, sanding, and painting of each and every horse we create.
Which horse is your favorite? All of our visitors enjoy checking out the horses and looking out all the unique carvings and colors on them.   The big question that most children and adults are faced with is which beautiful steed do they want to ride when the carousel is completed? Our visitors children and adults are now planning which horse they are going to take the inaugural journey on the carousel. They have several to choose from out of our stable of steeds.

The Berkshire carousel is the only carousel in the US that will have the horse figures

modeled directly from the classical ponies of the major carvers of all three styles:

The Coney Island Style, The Philadelphia Style, and The Country Fair Style.
