Teri Davis Blends Local History and Art

Berkshire Carousel Artist, Teri Davis, whose Boxcar Studio is in Hinsdale, loves the history of the Berkshires and also loves to include the local history in her artwork. At the recent Art Show and Black and White Auction, Teri had painted a Triptych of a diving horse. This was based on famous diving horses that appeared at Pontoosuc Lake in the early 1900s. These steeds, King and Queen, owned by Prof. G. F. Holloway, would jump from a 35-foot platform into water. The horses appeared throughout the US and in Canada as well. The act was very popular and watched from the shore and boats at the lake.

In addition to her carousel artwork and her own studio, Teri also teaches Carousel Figure Painting at the Berkshire Carousel Workshop. Classes are free and children are welcome. There is a $10 fee for supplies. Please call Maria at 413-499-0342 to sign up for Teri’s classes offered three times a week.
