The Black and White Auction
The Berkshire Carousel project held a unique art fundraiser at its workshop on Friday June 22, 2012. This event was a "Black and White Show" and featured limited edition prints of the works of carousel artist, “Barney” (Bernard Joseph) Illions, son of famed carousel carver, Marcus Illions. The works of art were donated by Jayne Pearl, a volunteer for Berkshire Carousel, whose father was Barney’s second cousin. In addition to the Illions prints black and white painted works by the Berkshire Carousel artists, responsible for the panels on the community carousel, were on display. Following a wine tasting, Charles Flint, well known Berkshire antique dealer, conducted the auction as a contibution to the project. Eighty people attended the event which raised over $3,000 for Berkshire Carousel.
